MDS ENTRANCE BOOKS- A REVIEW

Hmmmm:).. It has been a quite long time since I wrote any new blogs for the MDS entrance . Especially after that huge success of my two blogs which gave the new aspirants a hope in the field of entrance. Thank you soooo much for all those comments and shares. Whatever name currently signifies me in the field of entrance surely is a blessing from all those who always wished good for me , and I am sure those blogs have been time tested and surely have contributed to pages in the success stories of those 10,000 aspirants who read it. I can’t ask more :)

Entrance is kind of thriller story where you can’t predict the ending without reaching till the last scene. There will be many twists in the story. Just like the way you meet many new people who will tell you many different kind of preparation ways. Time is changing.. so does the Entrance !!! Many people will tell you to read theory few will tell you to read MCQ and few both. I believe that the success in entrance does not depend completely on one year preparation. But it does not mean that a year long preparation will not get you a seat. But there is one hard fact which we all need to accept. You may or may not win the race. But yes.. you do have a hope in anyway which you follow. But!!! Hope is all is what is required.. isn’t it?? :)

A book is said to be the best friend which will guide you through the success in the entrance exam..:) .. and just like the other friends which you will have in your life.. some are good.. some are bad.. and some need fine tuning…

But.. one things which everyone needs to understand here .. Commenting about the book is very easy.. but writing one???… ITS NOT EASY.!!! TRY IT ONE DAY

The basic difference between me and others??.. I tried to correct many books.. l and sent the correction to the author.. After 3 years too.. I still forward it to the student who need it.. I still try to find such guy who will make such an effort to help others, than just commenting on the efforts of the author. The search goes on ..!!

I guess there are around 10- 15 books in the market which could help you out in the field of entrance. Frankly speaking ..I HAVE NOT READ ALL OF THOSE.. BUT YES.. I do have read most of them during my entrance days.. and about rest of the books. ??.. I have heard and seen a bit which I would surely share it with you. It’s my sincere request to all those who read this blog and also for the authors of these books, not to consider this blog as a way of brand publicity by me. I also sincere apologies if someone finds my writing unacceptable. I whole heartily appreciate every small effort made by each author in coming out of the book and would like to tell them that in my every page of dentistry they have surely left a mark.

So here I am writing a review on all those books and the different ways of reading in order to improve your way of preparation and gain maximum benefit in a small amount of time. I won’t be commenting on all the books as I don’t know much to comment about them. But yes.. this blog will surely consider all those books which are must to clear a MDS entrance with a top ranks or at least which is said to be must for clearing AIPG

SUBJECT WISE BOOKS

19 subjects… 4 years :D 1 year internship.. Do you think you can read those again..!! I doubt..at least not without taking a break.. and the subject wise books are going to help you out in covering the topics in that 365 days… there are lot many.. the most imp books are mentioned here.

1) DENTAL PULSE

Surely… the name goes right. Its indeed a PULSE OF THE MDS ENTRANCE SUCCESS. I am sure. This would be the first book which all will buy at the start of preparation of entrance.. It won’t be surprising to see it in every students hand as soon as the student enters the internship.
The book consists most of the old questions, well-arranged and in a well retain-able manner. Currently the 4th ed being marketed. It is available in two volumes. The basic and the clinical one.. you will almost find all the old question of entrance papers with limited explanation which surely is very easy to revise. In fact, this book is the one which needs to be read till the last moment of exam..

Friends…so you finally brought the book and now have planned to read it.. but how??.. let me help you out..

1st reading

Never read the synopsis at first… wonder why?? Hmmm. The most important factor for preparation of entrance is the stress or tension… we are more efficient when our bottom is on fire;) ..isn’t it? ..what’s the logic of reading synopsis and reading the questions.. obviously.. you will answer more in the first attempt. But.. if you read without the synopsis and try to answer question then I am sure around 80% students will be able to answer only 60 out of 100 question.. and yeh.. you will also feel that you won’t be to crack the entrance.. but.. NO Fear.. it’s exactly this fear which is needed at the start… but not to quit!!!.. scoring at the first attempt is not a criteria. WHAT MATTERS IS THE END!!! . The initial score gives you a baseline on which you can compare your successive scores after revision. Hope you got my point:) Never mark any question in 1st reading in the question section ... just mark important point in the explanation. Why???.. I will tell you why a bit later.

The basic aim of reading a book for the first time is to get an idea about the type of topics which is imp and to get an idea how different the entrance is from the UG theory preparation.. marking 100 question 100 does not mean you will get a rank for sure.. remember.. there are around 10 books with around 10,000 questions which u need to remember and the question in the next exam will have new one too.,.

2nd revision

When you start the 2nd reading make sure you read synopsis but don’t try more time in remembering synopsis.. what’s imp in the initial reading is.. you need to enter the competition. That’s only possible by remembering the old question.. you can gain knowledge later.. start answering the questions more...read the explanation more rather than the synopsis. Still don’t mark any question. Just mark the imp points in the explanation.

Successive revision.

When you finish around 4 revisions , then mark the questions which you always tend to forget.. I believe that the human brain will surely will not able to store some questions no matter how many times you read. .I am sure you will experience it.. this is mostly because there are some questions which lacks logic, or no reference or completely different than what we have read in our BDS days. Now mark those question and during successive revisions give more imp for them.. why?? Believe me.. these are the questions which will be asked more in exam and most of the time students go wrong here.

Now the imp question is how to remember those difficult question without any logic..you need to find a word in that question and link it to the answer.so in next revisions whenever you come to that marked question you will see that word and you need to remember what was the answer.. I am sure..This helps :)

So basically this is how you need to read the Pulse..the marking part also applies to the other books which I wont be repeating in the following matter.

One strange question which I have been asked by many student… SIR.. IS PULSE SUFFICIENT FOR SECURING A RANK? OR FEW STUDENTS ALSO ASKED ME WHETHER PULSE AND PAST DENTAL PAPERS ARE ENOUGH FOR EXAM?

I really don’t know what to answer.. but I would like to tell you one .. first of all.. nobody knows how will be the exam or which type questions will come in to the exam. The pattern changes every year.. but yes.. new question means.. its new for all.. so whats imp is you need to remember all old questions and gain some extra knowledge.

Getting a rank is not imp.. Getting a top rank Is most imp. Getting a branch which you hate will make you compromise for whole life..but also remember getting a seat also imp. I am just telling you that when you have chance to get good rank then make a complete heart effort. Work for success.. don’t ask for short cut..

But yes.. state exams are bit easy.. and it will be great if you don’t restrict it to only one book and when you actually have more time and you can get a good rank by putting some more effort.. YOU DON’T KNOW UNLESS YOU TRY!!

Although the explanation and well arranged matter surely needs a appraisal from any student but I would also advise aspirants to gain some extra knowledge rather than just limiting your self to it.

2) DENTEST BY Dr GOWRISHANKAR

Bible of Dentistry.. THE AUTHOR IS CONSIDERED AS A PIONEER IN THE FIELD OF MDS ENTRANCE BOOKS. It has been around 16 years since the book is in market.. the book surely is one of its kind.. Infact in many states students start reading from the DENTEST first..Why??.. no book will ever give you so clear explanation which is extremely important in order to understand how to answer. Reading Dentest will clear your confusion and gives you extra knowledge. Its almost equal to reading most of the regular books.. I have seen students avoiding reading the explanation part..May be sometimes even I had done the same thing during my preparation.. but it was after AIIMS I realized that the answers of new questions can be found in the explanatory part. Yes the book is kind of big.. but if you are not reading theory and planning for an awesome rank in State or Comed entrance or any Deemed university.. I DOUBT. I might have been able to get rank in most of the exams.. but surely this book had made a big contribution In getting me a 6th rank in state.

It was during my preparation when I made a list of correction in which I tried to compare the answers from pulse and Dentest.. I found many mistakes. Recently I got chance to go through it again... and it was surprising to know that some most controversial question answers were rightly explained in the Dentest than the Pulse.. but yes.. surely the editing was not great that time.. it had many mistakes. but. Recently the new 5th ed of Basic Volume has been released and it is well arranged and colourful than the earlier. And regarding the Clinical Edition..hoping to see it soon with new modification. And another imp point...the Dentest has many new question and there is a good amount of chance that it will be asked in exam.

1ST READING.

Read everything.. GET TO THE DEPTH OF EXPLANATION.. UNDERSTAND IT.. FEEL THE ANSWER!!!. Mark imp points from the explanation. Get to know what exactly the subject is about..:)

Successive reading..

In the end of this blog I will surely try to give you a plan regarding the order of reading many books…but after reading Pulse and Dentest at least 3 times , then you need to mark the new questions which is absent in the Pulse. And do give more imp to them. Try to compare the answer from Pulse and Dentest.. Weigh the logic between ..and then accept the answer.

3) BHATIA

During my time.. I had read Bhatia. I wont be able tell you much about this book as I had not gone through it completely but yes.. the book surely had very good synopsis part which according to my seniors.

4) RITU DUGGAL

Has some of the finest question specially for Ortho and Pedo.. but lacks references.. but guys.. during my time when I got 18th in PG,I the questions were lifted from the above subjects of the book.

5) MANISHA PRABHAKAR

AIPG Perio questions are directly lifted from here.. and that to in order.. do read the Perio part .

6) JATIN KARLA

Consists only of Oral Pathology question .. kind of similar to reading Shafer’s .. During my time Oral path was lifted from here.. good question for ORAL PATHOLOGY

Friends. There are lot many other books.. but I guess when you are in internship you hardly have time to read all the books. Or at least it was true in my case.
So I guess this much is enough for subject wise books.

BOOKS WITH YEAR WISE PAPERS

It is extremely important that you revise question in year wise manner and not just in subject wise …WHY??

During my time.. when I read the Pulse and the Dentest 2-3 times.. there was a visual memory in my brain..and by the time I came to the first question .. my brain already knew what was the next question.. and basically because of this I never used to concentrate as much as I used to concentrate at initial reading.. and because of this I used to make many mistake..

One imp point which we need to remember is.. its easy to remember questions when its from the same subject. But what’s important to know is.. in exams questions appear randomly.. and YOU BRAIN NEEDS TO BE TRAINED IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT JUMPS FROM ANATOMY TO PHYSIOLOGY IN 2 SEC, IT JUMPS FROM CONSERVATIVE TO ORAL SURGERY IN 2 SEC,.. I hope you got my point. That’s only possible when YOU solve the question in a year wise papers.

So here are the few important books which have entrance papers arranged year wise

1) DENTAL BYTES

You will never get a book having so many question papers .. NEVER!!!.. infact the book had most of the papers from 1991 it self.. it almost has everything.. PGI, AIIMS, AIPG,MAHRASHTRA , JIPMER, and lot lot lot. But yes.. The old edition had explanation only for only recent papers. I had done the corrections of 8th ed.. and surely my seniors also made a great contribution for its correction. It has been 3 years I have sent it thousands. Now it’s the 10th ed. Me and my friend Gaurav have even contributed to it .. it also has references ..it does have my corrections and of many too. The new edition has references and explanation ..but you wont find old papers I guess before 2005 in the new edition.. anyway you if you need then you can get it from the publisher.

I have been always told by many students that it has lot many mistakes even I was one time.. But the difference between me and them ?? when I got a seat.. I made an sincere effort to send them to the author and many students. And infact those were the initial steps which gave me some name in the field of entrance.

It’s a difficult task to obtain so many papers and the author had made a sincere effort to give it to so many those are always looking for the early release of papers… atlest we need to appreciate it rather than just complaining. I am sure a student who has read the subject wise book properly, will easily identify such mistakes..Pls do send the correction to the respected authors. Help others. Help you juniors. Help your friends. It makes a difference in your life.
It’s a must buy book.

2) DENTAL EXPLORER

It was a good book during my time. Indeed it was the only book which had recent BHU and PGI questions papers and surely made a great contribution for many. In fact it was Dr Gaurav Verma one of the author of Dental explorer.. Hope I am not wrong.. who started the community of TIPS FOR MDS PREPARATION ON ORKUT. Which I continued later. Thanks for taking such a great initiative. The book is now authored by Dr. Gyanander Attresh.

I really don’t have much idea about the recent edition. I am sure the new aspirants can always through some light on it.

3) DENTAL QUEST

It was around March when me and my friend Dr Gaurav Ram Chandani came up with an idea of writing a book. The Dental Quest has been appreciated by many which had AIPG, MHCET,KCET,COMED 2011 paper and AIIMS NOV 2010 paper. The copies were sold rapidly.. but soon we do found few mistakes which were mostly in AIPG paper and were due to editing part. We did make an effort to send the correction to many. I have seen many students giving a positive review regarding our book and also appreciated by many coaching institutes..  heartfelt thanks to all those who loved it for sure.

I am sure many of you won’t find much explanation in Aipg 2011 paper as it consisted many repeated questions. But I am sure the other papers will make a big difference in your entrance as it has the explanation arranged in point to point wise from latest books and in fact the exact references.. I am sure you won’t find such a good explanation in any other papers. It’s a sincere effort by me and my friend which even today gets lot many hits on Facebook page.

We also released the Supplemental ed which  were loved by all the students across the INDIA.. Specially for the AIIMS NOV 2011 paper which had lot of controversial question and our book turned to be the best of all.. Dont believe us.. Here are some of feedback :)

"This is an expression of my gratitude to u both. Your book(Dental Quest II) came out very handy. God bless your good work !!!!! MDS aspirants hear out ' this book is an absolute must for your book shelf '. :)"
I can Give you 10 of those :) still dont belive us.. Buy one :)

Do request for the correction if you don’t have it yet.. we are always ready to send it to.

Apart from this.. There is
DENTAL INSIGHT
DENTAL UPDATE
And lot many !!!!!

MEDICAL BOOKS.

Now.. you must be wondering why the hell we should read the medical papers!!!.. guys.. let’s all accept one fact.. we are bit weak for the basic subjects question of AIPG.. the questions are really HI-FI.. but the good thing.. most of them are repeated from the medical papers.. The guy who aims AIPG , will surely read the medical question papers.. Common guys.. it’s like you already have your question papers in your hand.. be smart enough to do it before exam. In my exam around 20 to 30 question were a direct lift from medical part.. Chromosome for Cat Eye Syndrome?? Do you think you can answer that?? But it was lifted from recent AIPG medical part.

SO there are lot many medical books.. but here are the once I read ,,and almost everybody reads even today too.

1) MUDHIT KHANNA

Contains AIPG papers arranged year wise and subject wise too.. Hats off to authors.. the amount of depth they have given in the books is surely appreciated by all.. but One fact you all need to remember… We don’t have to dive so much.. but yes..at the end you have to remember at least question and answers…

Now.. I know.. you all take the Mudhit khanna and read Anatomy, Physiology and all those which we read in our BDS days.. But that’s not enough.. The examiners knows that you will read that.. but the hard work counts more too.. The rank holders push themselves an extra mile.. REMEMBER.. Pharmac question are there in Gynecology subject,.. syndrome question are there in Pediatric too.. And believe me .. these are the question which will be asked in the exam for sure.. and for those who don’t read those subject will surely feel the exam paper really difficult.. it took me only 10 min to answer those repeated question.. I lost marks in the dental part.. if you want to be in at least below 300 in those 8k students.. then ..U need to do all the question.. but how??

Read all questions at first reading.. mark which are related ,, or if in case even if you think it might be 60% related to us.. you don’t have to read lower limb questions.. that’s not related .. but Parmac question can be always asked from any subject.. you cant say no to that.. BE SMART!!!.. read it many times.. and make sure,, in the end you know at least know question and answer. That’s A REASONABLE DEAL I GUESS

Regarding the explanation.. reading the explanation makes your basic strong.. .. you can also get good charts for Pharmac in the book.. Community explained very nicely in the old volumes.. READ THAT!!!

For exam sake.. you need to do at least last 5 years of Medical AIPG papers!!!

MAKE AN EFFORT TO TEST YOU SELF. DON’T LOOSE THE BATTLE SOON.. PUSH YOUR SELF TO KNOW YOUR TRUE STRENGTH.

2) AIIMS PAPER

There is Amit Ashish. also you get lot many individual books for single papers like SPEED etc.. etc.. you need to do at least 3 years of AIIMS medical papers and also.

NATIONAL BOARDS
This is an exam for the gaining entry in to the foreign universities of USA .. questions are lifted from it for AIPG. My earlier blog has a info regarding this ,, thanks ot Dr.Nilesh Kadam for that contribution.. Readers are requested to read the earlier blog.

Hmmmmm.. This BLOG has already become quote long.. So I guess need to write a new Blog in which I will be explaining the correct method of reading all these books

Tilll Then!!

THE MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT MDS ENTRANCE

Respected Aspirants :)

I guess you all must have already experienced the heat of entrance preparation by now..
I know half of you must be actually worrying about the way you have been preparing and rest I Guess must be worrying whether you all be getting a seat this time…

There are two best thoughts which needs to be remembered each moment when you are sailing through these stressful days.

For the first half the people who are worrying.. “Success belongs only to those who are willing to work harder than anyone else”

And for those who are prepared well I guess you all should remember one thing.. "There is always a light at the end of tunnel”

I know the feeling which each one faces in those days of entrance preparation.. but No FEAR.. that’s actually needed the most to keep you r clock ticking..

It was almost 1 and half years now after writing that most acknowledged Blog I wrote for showing a hope for the new aspirants who face one of the big question when they just think about MDS preparation… “ How I prepared for my MDS entrance “ has been read around 4-5 thousand people till now, has been uploaded on many sites too and indexed by Google.... I am really thankful to all those kind people who enabled to make me a mark on the path of this difficult journey of MDS preparation.

Although the blog does solve most of doubts about entrance prep.. but few things did missed out in that blog of mine. I did promise to few of my sweetest aspirants that I will be writing the new one soon.. And for those who waiting it.. HERE it GOES

“THE MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT MDS ENTRANCE”

Have received many mails, calls, asking many question.. most of the time they are repeated so often that sometimes I even felt like just copying and pasting my earlier response.. I am sure may be for the next 5 years these following questions will arise in each of the budding aspirants who keeps the first step in the path of entrance preparation. I have tried sincerely to explain each of them, in the way so that each one of you understands it. I have surely made the language simple , just to make you feel that you almost talking to a person who have always tried to make support the new aspirants… Believe in one thing.. U HELP SOMEONE TODAY, GOD WILL SURELY HELP U SOMEDAY.. HERE IT GOES :)

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY ENTRANCE

I guess my first blog clearly gives the answers for this question. I request the first time readers to go through my earlier blog before reading this new blog.

HOW MUCH TIME IS NEEDED FOR PREPARATION?

Now time is money here.. it all depends on whether you are dropping or just preparing during internship.. keeping that point apart, you should make a time table of yours in which you should mark a deadline for each subject.. make sure the amount of time you allotted for successive revisions are less than the earlier one,, so if you plan your study this way then you will get a rough idea about the level of preparation you will be doing at the end of prep.

IS IT NECESSARY TO DO THEORY?

Now there are many people who give a different formula for entrance prep.. but you all should know one thing.. nobody guaranties you the success.. but yes.. they do give a hope.. somebody has said the truth.. “ To know the path ahead, ask those who are coming back” . This just means that if somebody has got success then you surely have a hope in that path.. but each you all should remember one thing.. every individual is different. Hence the amount of effort put by each individual is different and luck too.. but one thing you all should remember is, U REALLY CANT SAIL IN TWO BOATS AT A TIME.. “ the best advice to you all .. trust one , and follow it… don’t complicate things by listening to too many people.. ask one person who got a true success and follow it.,, what matters is the amount of trust you put in his words.. that’s what is imp to keep yourself motivated.. It also depends on your time and how you have read in your BDS days.. I never had time to read theory in my internship but I had worked hard during in my UG, so I was not much scared about the standard book.. but those who have taken a break of another year , I advise them to read the theory to because they have lot lot time for prep..

SHOULD I JOIN ANY COACHING ?

This is a complicated question!!.. the answer is not easy too.. I was from a small town called Belgaum where you hardly have coaching institutes,, and the other factor is the time you have to do for preparation..

The answer is!! Yeh do Join it.. only if you can… why??? The answer is simple.. in batch of 100 BDS students there will be 5 who rare truly interested in MDS entrance prep.. so imagine having 100 of such people who are constantly surrounding you , who are much serious about entrance than you are,!! How does that feel.. FEAR isn’t it… that’s actually which is needed when you start entrance prep.. you do need that fear which always motivates you for it..
But One thing holds true in this matter.. the final result does not depend on what coaching center you joined.. its once hard work which matters the most,. ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS!! Although u need to give some part of your credit to the coaching center .

Coaching center is the best place where you will be getting the latest question of various entrance examination.. This is most imp when it comes to securing a best rank in entrance.. getting those questions from the coaching institute is almost equal to giving all entrance exams.. but yes. It although completely can’t take the place of those exams.

SHOULD I JOIN A TEST SERIES?

This question was most asked by those who are devoid of coaching centers in their places…The answer is YES!! Now the other question which follows this..??

SHOULD I JOIN ONLINE TEST SERIES.?

The answer is NOOO * [ * conditions apply].. lol…. the reason why I said Nooo is because you don’t really feel anything when you give exams on this dumb box.. yehh try it once. it’s like just trying a new application on Facebook. He he...
Now why the[ *].. that’s because for those who don’t have classroom test series option then it’s a must to go for online test series.. “something is better than nothing” isn’t it??

The advantage of joining a test series specially the class room test series is it makes you feel the fear of exam which you will eventually get used to.. the another advantages is, you really can judge how many repeated question you missed in each exam… this gives you an idea about the amount of prep you needed so that you don’t miss the repeated once.

Two things which you all need to remember when it comes to test series.. you hardly have time to revise the explanation given by test series.. ya.. that’s true.. at the end of the year its damn difficult to revise those with books.. so make sure you give the best attempt every time so that you don’t have to repeat it again.

The 2nd thing you need to remember is not to follow the time table which the test series follows.. you really can’t do a single subject a full week and get top rank in that exam . if you do that then at the end of the year you will end up with 2-4 revisions only. that’s not the right thing .. maybe that’s ok for the first 2 months.. after that you need to have your own timetable so at the end of year you are done with many revisions .. so do remember this!!

WHICH ALL BOOKS NEED TO BE DONE?

Now there are lot many .. my first blog explains mentions all of them, so let’s not go in to depth.. yes.. many people do tell you to read theory.. but believe me , if you are sincere in attending internship.. then you hardly have time for it.. but if you have taken a break after internship then do it.. its imp to join coaching if u take a break because you need constant force to move ahead in this dark path of entrance so that you can reach the light at the end.. which is really difficult to travel along
Another imp thing which you should remember is to get all new editions of the books so that you don’t mug the wrong answers and you miss out any new question..

WHICH ALL EXAMS SHOULD I GIVE ?

Now that’s a big question!! That depends on how much money and time you have :P.. I believe you should give all genuine once.. why?? I still feel great to say that I got ranks in 6 out of 8 exams which I gave..

The must exams are
AIIMS
AIPG
PGI
KCET (Other state entrance)
Comed- K
Manipal/ MAHE

Apart from this there are
BHU( is an imp option)
KLEe/KAHE( too difficult and too easy sometimes)
Abshetty/NITTE
And still lot many like Yennapoya, linguistic minority and many other states private college association

No matter what exams you planning to give… Always AIM AIPG… and I am sure you will end up somewhere..

Ya. Few of you must be laughing over it.. but believe me.. it’s not a cake.. the path is really hard.. you miss out something.. then you missed it completely. So do give 100% every time.. it’s better to worry now rather than regretting later that u missed out something.

CAN I PREPARE FOR ENTRANCE ALONG WITH WORKING IN CLINIC?

Now.. There are few great people who are born intelligent.. I am not one them.. but I do believe in one thing.. Always give ur 100%.. It’s better to give your best attempt now rather than thinking why I gave only 99%.. Yes that does mean a lot of risk for one,,, but LIFE IS ALL ABOUT TAKING RISK.. nothing is easy.. preparing for entrance with that BIG QUESTION MARK!! FUTURE is risky,, but you really can’t sail in two boats at a time. The decision is based on how much work you have done in your UG and how much a MDS is imp for you.. I leave the decision to you..

MY DAD HAS LOT OF MONEY,, SHOULD I TAKE A MANAGEMENT OR READ FOR ENTRANCE?

Hmmm.. looks funny isn’t it!! No offence.. When a person has 100 rupee note in his pocket , its only then he thinks of spending 30 of it.. I guess you got the point.. first check whether you have one.. tell your parents not to expect you to make that 30 rupee into 100 as soon as you come out.. you should not judge the MDS seat value in that way.. you are paying such high amount as you have skipped the most stressful days of life.. so be happy for that.. time is money.. but if you sure of not having a confidence of clearing the entrance then listen to your dad.. after all whatever he has done in life is just you see happy

But do remember the taste of success tastes better with hard work,,, nothing can match that happiness

WHAT ABOUT MY GIRL FRIEND/ BOY FRIEND :)?

Someone did ask me this question when he read my first blog… I did advise him not to fall in love during entrance prep.. Another guy even reacted strongly saying few true words.. “love just happens…. But keeping that fact apart, I am really not against it.. you need know the imp of each things in life.. I just want convey you one message.. its damn difficult to find a partner who understands the imp of these days ,, I never said not to fall in love before or after entrance preparation day.. but if you have found a girl/boy who really supports you in these days and may be who is also trying for entrance prep then I guess you have found the one.. best of luck in this matter.

THE BIG QUESTION!! HOW TO MARK THE ANSWERS?

Now I follow rule of 4 for answering any paper..!!

1st rule- Around 50% of questions in any exams almost repeated from either textbooks or MCQ books.. so always answer those first. If your preparation is really good then by the time you read the first 2 words of the question, you will come to know that the question is repeated.. but if you feel that it’s not a repeated one, then don’t waste time in reading and trying to find answer. Just skip it..

2nd rule- Rest 20 % questions are indirectly related to the old question.. here you need to spend bit little extra time so that you can find the answer ,, but if you really not getting the answer then this needs to be answered by the rule 3rd. but before that complete the 2nd round

3rd rule- This rule is for the difficult questions .. this really tests you… it can be only answered by the extra knowledge which you have gathered whole year.. these are quite new questions.. but still answerable.. its these question which decides whether you will be in those top ranks…

4th rule- This is for the exams which do not have negative marking—this completely depends on your luck and logic.. so try it on at the last,,

So these rules should be followed one after another. That means.. 1st rule--- complete the paper—apply 2nd—complete the round—then it goes on

The advantage of doing this , you will know the amount of right question you already answered by the time you finished the first 2- rounds.. and you won’t be spending much time in answering the difficult question.

Believe me ,,, when you follow this pattern then you will finish the papers in half of the time which is allotted. I have done that.. but Yeh.. it depends on the number of revisions which you have done too..because most of the entrance exam is memory based.

Try it.. it works

IS THERE ANY SPECIAL PREPARATION BEFORE EXAMS??

Yes !!!! It starts 10-15 days before exams… specially before Aiims and AIPG..
No matter how many preparation you have done, there will be few subjects which you feel difficult.. so make sure you revise it 5-6 days before the exams.. and also make sure that you revise all the papers specially the exams which you will be giving first..
The next question is what if you have continuous exams??. I guess you will be hardly having few long breaks after giving AIPG as you will be having many exams after AIPG.. so you all need to remember one thing.. decide which is imp for you…for me Kcet was next imp exam , so I had around 15 days after AIPG.. so I planned a revision in those 15 days,, although I had 2 exams in between those.. but I only gave one day for revision of the papers of those in-between exams.. so I guess that gives an answer for it.. these last 15 days are very stressful and you should not over burn yourself.. so laugh, love the time spent with pals and sleep well.. but work according to the schedule

WHAT SHOULD BE DONE ONE DAY BEFORE EXAM?

Hmmm.. Now you all should remember one thing when your at the entrance of an exam hall… Hard work always pays.. It’s not a single day which matters in life.. It’s the whole life which matters the most… So when it comes to entrance u all should remember that the final result depends on your one year hard work and not the last day.. but yehh.. last day is imp too.. Specially for AIPG.. Medical papers are too difficult to remember.. especially when you mug the question from the different subjects which hardly goes deep into your head.. so one day before you need to revise at least the question papers which are most likely to come always.. so do it, you don’t have to read the explanation and all.. but you should at least remember the questions and answers.
And yes… chillllllll.. your brain needs rest .. so make sure you sleep well, laugh and give the best attempt at full concentration of yours… hope is what matters at the end,,

THE INSIDE STORY

Here I am just giving you a bird view of many entrance exams.. may be its very difficult to be specific but it does explain you something about each exam.

AIIMS

Hmmm.. I was not able to clear it though.. had got 328 rank,, not bad after a preparation of 6 month. Do fill the form.. many people will advise u not to waste money and time to give it.. people will say “ are!! Getting rank in Aiims is impossible at first attempt”… yup… but never give exam thinking that u need to get a seat in it.. but give it to test urself

Your actual preparation starts when you give Aiims exam.. its then you come to know how much you were able to recollect at the exam day. So you all should try it once.

PGI

I loved this one.. one of the best which most of you miss.. generally Dec session, romantic weather, just love it… now when it comes to PGI entrance exam , the seats are less too.,, quite similar to Aiims.. but I guess very few people apply for it,, but the advantage of giving PGI is you all will get your result within 8 hours… quite different than in Aiims.. getting an instant result in PGI boosts your moral,, unlike the Aiims where your have to wait for months to get to know your rank.. the question are mostly repeated from past PGI papers . Hence doing those papers from bytes are out most imp.. the top 10 rank varies In just few point percentages. So in those 100 question max 90 should be attempted.. believe me .. it’s true that most of the time guess works do go wrong..

So no matter who says … do give PGI.. its worth..

AIPG

Although lost it by 3%.. l,, but believe me.. they follow a set of pattern for exam.. most of the questions are repeated. It takes around an hour to mark those repeated question.. but the most difficult task Is to answer the new once,, anyway each question is imp.. marking the repeated question is most imp first than the new once.. so make sure you do medical papers too specially from other subjects. When you reading mudit khanna, do read all subjects , then mark the question which is related to you.. for example chromosome questions is given in pediatrics in their subject but its related to us also.. it’s here your effort makes a difference.. without medical papers you won’t be able to clear AIPG, and you need to follow the same rule for Aiims medical papers too. They do ask question from national boards papers mostly from the 70’s papers.. but make sure you have done rest of the books before doing this.. and yes.. you need to remember the other main thing also.. The negative marking.. that costs a lot.. I advise you all to mark max around 170-180,, not more than that because the cutoff generally ranges from 65% to 75%.

Yes.. it’s one of the most imp exams.. but the people who are giving the 1st attempt should not lose hope if they don’t clear it .. you need time for it.. maybe there are many who took a drop a year and I am sure they do deserve something more from it.. if you truly deserve it you will get it.. if not then make sure you give the best attempt till the last exams..

KCET

This is a Karnataka state entrance exam.. it’s like any state exam.. but one of the imp one.. the question are almost repeated and hardly any new things.. but it’s not that easy.. the seats are less and there are many people with same marks and yes.. reservation screws you when it comes to Kcet too.. hardly any use if you cross 25 ranks in GM.. but keeping the expectation apart, work had to reach that top 10 so that you get the dream branch.. yes.. the fees is quite more than the AIPG but it’s quite less compared to Comed and other exams.. and there is no negative marking.. be careful while attempting.. each mark is crucial.. also.. last year paper was indeed tough… so u need to be good with theory hence forth

Comed- K

People say,.,, its toughest after AIPG.. I don’t believe that,, yes I do agree that this exam is quite competitive and tests you to the core,, why?? I will tell you
The questions are mostly found in the discussion matter of all those books which has been mentioned, and specially past 2 years of Kcet and comed-K medical papers..
The main difference is the set of options they provide.. they really confuse you.. most of the options are so twisted , that really don’t cross your mind.. it just looks difficult.. but you need to understand the question properly then find the answer,, if you really don’t know what they have asked then answering comed-K becomes damn difficult.180 questions.. quite lot of time.. no extra prep… but take time to answer.. follow the rule of four.

Manipal

One of the genuine one.. in fact more genuine than AIPG.. you get marks with a click of the mouse button. During my time the pattern was quite different.. but I guess the exam consists of 200 questions now and there is no negative marking also,, and I guess the Manipal reservation is also removed from this year.. and the number of seats are more as it included two colleges., I really don’t know the latest pattern but I do believe one thing.. the questions are mostly theory oriented and taken directly from the textbooks.. so this is quite difficult, but not impossible.. repeated questions r quite less.

KLE/KAHE

Please don’t make a special prep for this.. just go and try your luck,, but AIPG prep + luck does give you a rank here..

Abshetty/NITTE

hmmm.. quite good… special preparation not needed.. mostly asked from recent papers and pulse and Dentest.. Specially from synopsis

The last one!!

I have been asked by many,, may be ,,I am still young to answer.. just doing my MDS, quite far from what’s called reality ,, many new aspirants to ask me one complicated question…

IS IT REALLY NECESSARY TO MDS?

IS IT WORTH DOING?

HOW MUCH SALARY WILL GET AFTER MDS?

MY FRIEND SAYS U CAN LEARN ALL THE THINGS IN CLINIC ONLY.. WHY SHOULD I WASTE MY 3 YEARS?

Hold on… first think whether you will be make it.. clearing a entrance with a GM category is in fact very difficult… before asking question first see how much your are capable of committing to it.. its note easy..

And when it comes to those question.. remember “YOU DON’T KNOW UNLESS U TRY”
For each individual priorities are different, but money is not the only thing.. there is something called a dream, a hope, a satisfaction for an individual, for me MDS was dream.. and I really don’t care for the future because god really don’t give chances always,, isn’t it?.. Yeh I do say that budget matters, except for AIIMSs, AIPG, and PGI , in other exams ,fees are high.. in fact I too would have dropped the idea I did not had such supporting family.. but you should not keep the KCET and Comed fees in mind and start prep.. in fact you should not think about seat at all.. you should only struggle hard to achieve that perfection which clears you through AIPG,.. yes I do agree that you might not clear at the end.. but you really can’t keep the negative thoughts and starts prep… its you thoughts which make impossible - possible.. be ready to face the reality but don’t be fooled by the fear of failure at the start of entrance prep. It makes a lot of difference.

If you really feel MDS is not an option for then, dude,,, shift to some other field,, may be u might shine there,, but if your strong enough to face each problem of life then come.. sail with us.

The WINNER.??

I have seen many who have left the prep in middle, may be due to some family problem, some other, but you all need to remember one thing.. Study is not everything in MDS prep.. it’s how you manage friends, how you mange time, how you manage your parents force to put a clinic or how to manage the force of your boyfriend/ girlfriend marriage proposal.. the winner is one who manages all these things and still completes the task of reading at stands in front of the exam center with that deep confidence of achieving something special at the end.. the fear, the adrenaline rush which he feels when he get the result… the depression when he/she need to face when he tastes the failure for the first time..

Remember..MDS is not life. But it’s a part,.. life is game… and these are the part of it.. you really don’t know where’s your destiny, but until you play the game of life,,, until you move with it,, you never know where you will end up..

So start playing now.. who knows… you might be next one to write another beautiful page in the story called .. “ WINNER”

And for the new aspirants who think it’s impossible.. Remember “THE GREAT PLEASURE IN LIFE IS IN DOING WHAT PEOPLE SAY YOU CAN NOT DO”
Thank you for reading this :)

EXTENSION OF THE BLOG..SPECIAL THANKS TO DR.NILESH KADAM for giving the answer to another imp question

NATIONAL BOARDS.. IS IT IMP???

Basic Question which student usually ask (mainly student who are new to such ALL India exam) that WHAT IS NBD? .

Basically these are the entrance exams conducted in US for admission to DDS course there which is conducted in parts.

The purpose of doing these papers is like when You look at old papers right from aipg 2001 to 2009 , there is History of atleast 20 Q/ paper (on an average)

Many people will say NBD is simple no need to do it u can solve it if it comes.!!!

My Ans - Yes very True its simple, No doubt about it.
But wht I think is when u already know the answer u are not in a position to do any 0.1 percent chances of mistake.
But if u reading NBD for the first tyme u may think in other way and go wrong. I ll say there are 1 percent chance.

In all exams topper also do silly mistake , silly mistake in NBD is CRIME in My sense.

Another Question-
Do we have to read only clinical or basic also?????

My ans- Try to finish clinical first , its utmost Imp in both
Basic had history of 1-2 Question been asked in each paper.
U cant really neglect Basic NBD though

So one has to read basic NBD for the reason it wil clear some doubts and concepts.

Is the answer justified in NBD????

My ans-- Since these questions being directly picked from NBD ans cannot be changed since they directly picked line to line from these papers
Stick to the ans wht they gave –
One line I used to say NBD = GOD , follow this

Now for the freshers –
There is not much tyme for the preparation of NBD .

I ll say-- Try to finish clinical NBD atleast .
Basic u can take chances.

Why do I say this Because , Basic Question mainly asked from medical papers in major bulk , ultimately it clears some Question of NBD too.
So if u doing Medical papers nicely, u can opt out Basic NBD!!

REPEATERS
U people know well what NBD meant and U have the sufficient time to read it
Better read 

Time management—
There are many papers OF NBD
Now main papers being from 1977 to 1989 . these are IMPortant
Newer Question set also available but u cant finish all the papers it will b hectic
So better read specific papers which are in trend .

There are on an average 9 papers per subjects if u take one paper per day u can finish one subject per 10 days
HOW?????
Paper will take 90 minutes maximum, and many repeat Question in subsequent papers
So later u can finish in 60 min .
It takes around 12 hours to finish one subject.

U can try doing NBD early in the morning when u ll b fresh 

TO CONCLUDE-

I planned my study with NBD those are my strong feelings about it , so I explained it to you.
AIPG 10 was exception for the reason NBD was not asked, but I think AIPG 11 wil be having atleast 20 Question from NBD ( strong belief)

One sentence at the end

AIPG PREPARATION IS NEVER COMPLETE
WITHOUT DOING NATIONAL BOARDS

to write some things which are really worth, Thanks Shenvi  )

Shenvi ,Doctor , its been a pleasure seeing you evolve from ashes to something that everyone covets so hard to be .

Each of one us is securing something all the time , nothing to materialize but i think you are the biggest insurance i have got for that one little premium paid long long ago .

Years are passing by but still those stupid things we did are so vivid & priceless . The rains , the cycle , that blue full shirt you totally abused , the football which was tired of you , the front seat at math and back row at chemistry , vada pav's , those contributed gifts , adventures , trips , tests , fights .. God i can go on !

There are no real short cuts , with all those eyes staring & asking questions .. he has stood tall , very few knowing the the amount of hard work he has put in & those restless nights that he has spent in dark rooms . Victory can never be so sweet when you discover that you have defeated yourself .

The energy that resides in him is just magical , hard to find some one always ready , literally !

The principles & values are very intact , never forgets to wear that smile , respects & commands respect , Greek gods have also blessed him ... hmmm that kind of makes you almost a perfect XY chromosome :P , just find a XX for yourself & rest will be just perfect :) .

Infatuation is often confused with Love , which completely signifies for its intensity but heavily lacks durability . There are no logical reasons as to why you cannot have apple, orange & mango too :) . Attraction is the law of nature and it is justified from the various other ends . Decisions can be wrong & will be wrong but be slow , sure & stick if you decide to take important ones

Have read a lot of nice things about friendship but friends like you , make the word more meaning full & valued . I know we are always there for each other & personally i would never be vocal about a lot of things but this testimonial has been due for long long time :)

Mittali-

Well.. i think to be of help to sumone, one dsnt need to participate actively..

The guy here proved this to me..while i was preparing for MDS,all my depressing days turned a little better when i read sm of his scraps(m so glad u kept them visible to all..!!..).. i used to be so scared of him.. infact i thot he wld definitely top in aipg.... my fears got all the more strength wen he got 18th rank in pgi and i got 30th..

After aipg was done with.. i sent him a friend request out of the blue and refused to tell him anything before his exams.. i just thot its his time to study and not waste time on silly things.. and voila.. he came out in flying colours with 6th rank in KCET.. and i owe him some part of my rank too....

so you see.. he wasnt there actively.. bt he helped me so much by just being the way he was.. without knowing that he is giving so much to some one.. and as he puts it.. making a difference..

thank you buddy for every single positive thought u brought my way..

so we have been friends now for quite a long time..and because i have been challenged with lets see how much you know me.... here we go..

this guy is a very sensitive and emotional person.... and what i love in him is his ability to always see the glass half full.... loves to write the story of his life in his blogs and help people by telling them that at one time he too sailed in the same boat....

i love to call him shenvi..(this is one thing u dont know shenvi..).. we have grown from strangers to good friends today.. i just hope we keep finding the time and spirit from our life to continue this forever..

multilinguistic shenvi has taught me some great kannada words too.... and i just hope i would be able to teach him some punjabi one day..

according to him i am "different".. in his words.."mujhe samajh nhi aata tha ye ladki kaisi hai..!!..".. haha.. bechara shenvi..

so shenvi.. this orthodontist wishes u all the luck for everything u do in life.. and as u said be in touch..always.. nhi to maar khaaoge..

and do come to punjab some time.. punjabi vi sikha deyaange te naale makki di roti te sarson da saag vi khilavaange.... shayad koi punjabi kudi pasand aa jaave..

good luck maga for everything.. to you and to your yet to come better half..

and becoz shenvi loves to put his name and date beneath a testimonial.. i will do this with all the due respect..

S-sophisticated SURESH means SURE. trouble 4 SURE 4 me n SURE 2 do somethin 4
U-untold himself. I know him since 5 long yrs from 1st BDS days wen this
R-reasonable man used to hunt my mind daily for about 2-3 hrs daily apart from
E-estimated college hrs even during exam time.
S-sharp VENUE- roadside infront of my house
H-hunter SUBJECT- all the daily happenings of his great dissection table.

He virtually thinks a lot, more of unnecessary than wat is necessary. He s hardworking, punctual but lacks patience and is always on high moods, excited and eager to know the results before exams or to go somewhere before journey.

mmm..this is shenvi as most of call him..in short he is not completely but ha almost comparable 2 akshay s role in dch;serious in life n very calculative... he s a man of few words but can write a biography on each n every person he knows.

a short profile 2 know him better:
his hobby-studying
favourite passtime-studying
and guess wat does he do when he s bored-.... ya, u ve guessed it right..

he might give u a first impression of not being very different from the others but trust me he is special..

one thing which is common in him and the rest of my friends is just that he makes me feel lucky 2 have him as my dear friend..

..wat 2 say ABT THIS GUY..k jst few words..wen i ws 1st year i hardly used 2 see any guys n he was among them..wit his front hair covering half of his forehead quite, innocent, dumb i think nt so much appreciable in studies n any activities ,used 2 manage bit by bit every1 always used to recognise him by his brother..days passed our final exams wer ahead atlast we finished... gt results..man he was 2nd highest..i thnk every1 was shocked..now wat to say... we stepped in 2nd yr his roll no was behind me,all d postings v were together.. i hav seen his hard work n pains he hd taken 2 reach his top goals but ha always in a right way, even though my name is SPOORTI bt always i was inspired by him...the guy who stepped so high in each yr n nw he is recognisd BY EVERONE by his own name SURESH D SHENVI no need a tag of his brother."u proved it SURESH a hard work n sincerity do have place in these days also".. now see his front hair its always above forehead..y nt he proved it..OOFH isnt a few words 2 describe him.

ANU

It was by shear luck that i got to know this guy,It was the time when i was all screwed up on how to prepare 4 mds,i didn't know any1 who had qualified. He is my seniour's fiance's frnd, was checking out their engagement pics when i saw his pic,i misunderstood him as 1 of mystaff member who had left college after marriage, clicked to find out,but turned out to b some 1 else ,found that he had cleared mds that yr,isn't that strange,i was looking all this while 4 some1 in my city n here by shear luck i found 1.I asked him 4 guidance n he was sweet enough to help me out after just 1 scrap, that is what he does to every 1 always ready to lend a helping hand to all n somehow he is not satsfied that he is there at the pinnacle of his success, but he wants every 1 around him to reach his heights so that he can share his success with them. Thats what this sweet frnd (read brother bcoz he is like that to me) is all about. U rarely find such awesome human beings around u,every where green eyed jealousy dominates.since my holidays, used to come online whenever i was bored, pretty often, used to find him online n v used to chat.He lifted me,guided me,when i was depressed motivated me to bring out the best in me so that i can b there where he is.Isn't that enthralling all that coming from a complete stranger, then he asked me to chek out his blog,i saw my exact replica,he is so much like me,v think on similar.I could relate to everything he wrote, understand each bit of it to full stop. Not only is he an awesome humanbeing but also a very emotional guy who knows that true happiness lies not in plain materialistic pleasures,he knows what makes life worth living and cherishes it.That is why he is crazy about his frnds. His buddies r extremely lucky that u have a true frnd like him, sometimes i think he cares more 4 u guys than himself.Do cherish this blessing n never lose this precious frnd.U r extremely lucky.GOOD LUCK 4 UR LIFE BOSS/BRO

LIFE WILL ALWAYS HAVE GOoD IN STORE 4 U ALL BCOZ U HAVE GOOD 4 EVERY 1, god is watching he will bestow his blessings on u always take care bro
